Vaginal Surgery

Labiaplasty, also known as lip reduction or vaginal rejuvenation, restructures the external appearance of the genitals for aesthetic reasons and to treat any functional impairment. The procedure often increases the hygiene and symmetry of the lips, increasing the comfort and confidence of patients. ABOUT PROCEDURE On the day of surgery, labiaplasty patients will receive a mild sedative followed by local or general anesthesia, as recommended during the consultation.

The surgeon will make an incision in the labia majora or minora and cut the excess tissue, suturing the wound later. The surgeon then applies an anesthetic solution to the lips. The operation usually lasts an hour, and after an hour or two of rest, patients can go home. Patients must arrange for someone to drive them home. There are five different ways to perform labiaplasty surgery. Edge resection: In this procedure, the doctor surgically removes excess skin from the edges of the labia minora. Central Wedge Resection:

This method involves cutting and removing the wedge tissue from the thicker segment of the less lips. This technique preserves the natural wrinkles of the labia minora, but has a greater margin for error than some other labiaplasty techniques. De-epithelialization: This technique consists of cutting the superficial tissue of the lips less. The surgeon cuts around the middle and back of the lip tissues with a scalpel or a laser beam. This technique maintains wrinkles and lip sensations, but can increase the width of the lip.

Labiaplasty with clitoral detachment: In this technique, the clitoral hood is resected. The doctor sutures the hood into a V shape and shapes the skin to form a Y, uncovering the hood of the clitoris and tightening the tissues of the lips. Laser labiaplasty: This technique combines de-epithelialization and the use of laser beams instead of a scalpel. The only downside to this technique is that the laser can remove too much skin in the process. ABOUT RECOVERY PROCESS A patient can return to work as soon as four days after labiaplasty.

Strenuous work should be avoided for at least a month, and sexual intercourse should be avoided for six weeks after surgery. On the first day after the operation, the patient should stay in bed and arrange for a caregiver to take care of them. During the recovery period, the surgeon should check in periodically to see how the wound is healing and if any additional check-ups are required. If the patient menstruates during her recovery time, she should not use tampons. Restrictive clothing or thong underwear should also be avoided during recovery. Postoperative swelling usually lasts between one and four months.

ARE YOU THE RIGHT CANDIDATE?

Ideal candidates for labiaplasty experience discomfort, pain, irritation or embarrassment from their genitals and should not have any STDs. Women experiencing postpartum changes or significant weight loss sometimes seek a labiaplasty for reconstructive purposes. The patient must be in good health and not smoke or be willing to quit smoking for at least three weeks before the operation. Patients of any age can have this surgery, but adolescents will require parental consent. The patient must not be menstruating on the day of surgery.

CAN LABIAPLASTY AFFECT SEXUAL LIFE?

No, it does not affect. The area of sexual pleasure in women is the clitoris, which is rich in blood vessels and nerves, corresponding to the penis in men. The inner lips have no function in sexual pleasure.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE A NORMAL BIRTH AFTER LABIAPLASTY?

One of the important reasons for sagging and asymmetry of the inner lips is having multiple births and having had a traumatic birth. With labiaplasty surgery, the inner lips are reduced and this tissue does not sag in the following years. Normal birth can be easily performed in patients with labiaplasty. In other words, having undergone this surgery does not prevent normal birth.
