Mesotherapy is one of the most effective medical aesthetic applications that makes the skin more glowing and helps to remove fine wrinkles. Mesotherapy was first applied by Dr Michel Pistor in 1952. In the first years of its application, mesotherapy was used to reduce pain.

Today, mesotherapy is used to:

  • rejuvenate skin
  • reduce cellulite
  • remove stretch marks and skin blemish
  • treat acute and chronic pain and various skin diseases
  • treat hair loss and baldness
  • treat under-eye bruises and under-eye bags
  • treat sports injuries.

How is mesotherapy performed?

Vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes are injected into the skin with micro needles in terms of the patient’s needs. Thus, collagen and elastin in the skin are stimulated and this situation increases the level of moisture in the skin. In this way, the skin renews itself.

How long does mesotherapy last?

Although mesotherapy application varies from person to person, it is usually applied in 3-6 sessions. Before the application, the injection site is anaesthetized with a cream. Thus, it help patients feel more comfortable during the procedure. The duration of this application is 15-20 minutes on average. Depending on the person’s request, light therapy can be applied to relax the skin and increase the effectiveness of the application. After the application, the person can continue his/her daily activities.

Which age is suitable for mesotherapy application?

After the 20s, hyaluronic acid in the skin begins to decrease and fine wrinkles begin to increase. With mesotherapy applied in the 30s, the signs of aging begin to be prevented. Especially when women enter menopause, the moisture and elasticity in their skin begins to decrease. Therefore, wrinkles and skin sagging begin to show during period of menopause. On the other hand, mesotherapy is not recommended for some patients such as pregnant women, nursing mothers, people who have had a stroke, people with diabetes, cancer patients, people with blood clotting problems, urticaria patients, people who are allergic to the drugs to be used, heart patients using more than one drug.

Side effects of mesotherapy

  • Redness at injection site
  • Bruise on injection site
  • Itching and burning sensation on the skin
  • Nausea.
  • Vomiting.
  • Diarrhea.
  • Skin swelling.

Although these side effects may occur after mesotherapy application, they are temporary and disappear spontaneously within 1-2 days.

How long after the application, the effects of mesotherapy begin to be seen?

If mesotherapy is applied to the face, its effect is seen immediately after the application. However, it takes some time for the treatment to show its effect on problems such as sagging and wrinkles. As the sessions progress, the vitality of the skin and the reduction of wrinkles will become more noticeable.

Recommendations after mesotherapy

It is not recommended to use blood thinners and aspirin before and after mesotherapy. After the application, the injection site should not be touched with water for 15 hours. It is also recommended not to wear tight clothes until the injection site heals. After the application, it is recommended not to make forceful movements for 2 days and not to enter the pool and sea to avoid infection. Excessive sun exposure should be avoided until the injection site heals. In addition, patients should not go to tanning booth. The patient can take a shower and apply make-up after one day of the application.

What is Needle Free Mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy can be applied in two ways, needle and needle-free. Patients who want to renew their skin without the pain of injection or who are afraid of needles may prefer needle-free mesotherapy. In needle-free mesotherapy, the vitamins and minerals that need to be given to the skin are sent to the skin through pressure without the use of injection.

Through needle-free mesotherapy, which is applied for patients who have problems with their skin and hair but do not want to have mesotherapy application because they are afraid of needles, a biological stimulation is performed in the cells and new collagen production in the skin is triggered. Although needle-free mesotherapy does not give as effective results as needle mesotherapy, it can be applied mostly on the face, neck, chest and décolleté area.
