Relex Smile

SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) eye surgery is the latest achievement in laser vision correction.

STEP 1

This minimally invasive procedure is the most advanced refractive surgery to treat myopia and mild to severe astigmatism. Worldwide, more than 2,000,000 SMILE procedures have been performed during the last decade – SMILE is the fastest growing laser vision correction!

How Does Smile Work?

In a normal eye, light from the cornea and lens (refracting) so that it lands properly on the retina and clear images are transmitted to the brain.

In a myopic eye, the eye is slightly too long or very curved, which affects the focusing power of the cornea and lens. This causes light to focus on a point in front of the retina, as opposed to directly on its surface, resulting in blurred vision when viewing objects at a distance.

In the past, the best way to treat myopia was with laser procedures such as LASIK, which requires the creation of a corneal flap.

In contrast, SMILE uses an ultra-fast femtosecond laser to precisely modify the shape of the cornea from the inside. SMILE is FDA approved to treat both myopia and astigmatism.

STEP 1

In less than 30 seconds, a femtosecond laser is used to create a circular, lens-shaped cut, called a lens, inside the cornea. At the same time, the advanced laser creates a small access incision only 4mm wide.

STEP 2

The lens is carefully removed through the small incision, leaving the rest of the cornea intact.

STEP 3

Removing the lenticule changes the shape of the corneal surface, improving the way light is focused on the retina. This results in clear vision for patients with myopia and / or astigmatism.

Benefits Of Smile

SMILE is a smooth, bladeless and fast procedure. Along with the benefits of a clear vision, SMILE provides the following benefits:

Minimally invasive procedure that causes little or no pain and offers better vision for life
Most patients can return to their daily routine the day after SMILE with clear, corrected vision.
You may experience less discomfort and dry eyes with SMILE than with other types of vision correction procedures.
No more hassle with glasses or contact lenses.

Whom Can Relex Smile Laser Be Applied?
